Refrigerant Leaks

Almost all vehicles leak some refrigerant past seals and through microscopic pores in hoses. The older the vehicle, the more the leak. Newer vehicles have better seals and hoses so they leak less.

On newer vehicles system tend to be smaller, so any loss of refrigerant will have more of an effect on your vehicle's cooling.

Modern Auto Air uses various methods to check for leaks. We find leaks by adding special dye to the system or an electronic leak detector. Once we've found the leak, repairs should be made prior to fully recharging the system. Many leak repairs involve replacing O-rings, seals or hoses, this is an inexpensive repair, but if the evaporator or condenser are leaking, repairs can be more expensive.

A leak in any one of these systems is something that won't get any better, and will affect the performance of your air conditioning.
